Government language education policies and strategies should not impose a one-sized fits all approach to language learning– said a leading expert from Cambridge English. The comments coincided with Cambridge English’s recent decision to support the Education World Forum in London – which is the largest gathering of education and skills ministers in the world.
D Hanan Khalifa, Head of Research & International Development from Cambridge English commented:
‘Governments around the world are increasingly putting language learning programmes in place in schools, which is really encouraging. The successful projects we’ve seen do not try to impose a one-sized fits all approach to language learning. They also incorporate attainable and realistic goals for learners and report back through a dedicated programme of research. These act as models for other governments to follow which is why it’s so important to share best practice.’
Cambridge English worked with two other Cambridge University Departments, Cambridge Assessment International Education and Cambridge University Press International, as a Platinum Partner for the event – which was also supported by various UK Government departments.
