Free online practice tests

Our practice tests help you get comfortable with the format and layout of the test while also providing you with feedback on the responses you have entered. You can take these practice tests as many times as you like.

Note: Linguaskill is an adaptive test that changes the questions based on your answers, to provide you with a score. Our practice tests are not adaptive – there are three tests available, at elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Important information – please clear the cache on your computer before taking these practice tests, this will refresh the data that may have previously been entered.

Writing sample responses

We have examples of Writing responses for each level and test section. They demonstrate the content that needs to be written in order to achieve the different levels. Examiner commentary is given to explain the reasons behind why each level was achieved.

Writing assessment criteria

The Linguaskill Writing Assessment Criteria are a useful guide for teachers and students who want to understand more about how the writing test is assessed. However, please note that the writing test is marked using our AI Marker. This technology allows us to assess against a wider range of CEFR descriptors than is possible to include in examiner marked assessment criteria.
