The Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs has renewed its recognition of the Paper-Based C1 Advanced qualification (previously known as Cambridge English: Advanced CAE) as proof of English language proficiency for Australian visa and migration purposes. This means that candidates who sit the Paper-Based version of this high-quality English language qualification can continue to use C1 Advanced for study, work and migration to Australia.
Carmen Le, Regional Recognition Manager, ASEAN, Australasia, Japan & South Korea at Cambridge University Press & Assessment said:
‘We’re delighted that the Australian Department of Home Affairs has renewed its acceptance of the Paper-Based C1 Advanced. More than 10,000 educational institutions, businesses and government departments around the world accept C1 Advanced as proof of high-level achievement in learning English. This high-level qualification covers the language skills that people need to have a positive experience of studying, working and living in an English-speaking country.’
Until further notice, any C1 Advanced Digital test taken from 12 February 2024 will not be accepted for Australian visa purposes. Test scores for both the paper-based and computer-based C1 Advanced tests taken before 12 February 2024, within the respective visa validity period, are still accepted by the Department of Home Affairs.
The Department continues to accept the following minimum C1 Advanced scores for visa applications:
