Cambridge University Press & Assessment is collaborating with WeTALK in Peru to provide learning and assessment content for a major English language programme in the university sector. The project will help deliver better English language learning outcomes for thousands of university students across Peru.
It is part of a wider commitment by WeTALK to help students reach a B2 level of English that students need to be able to graduate. Students taking part in the programme improve their English skills by taking a specially tailored version of Cambridge’s Evolve Digital online English course. At the end of the course selected students take the AI-powered Linguaskill test to measure their progress.
WeTALK was created in 2019, at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), and was then expanded to provide English to the Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN) and Cibertec. It has a fully virtual English language programme for students at these three universities, and is also promoted to the general public.
“It’s fantastic to be working with WeTALK on such an important English language programme in Peru,” commented Isabel Tabja, Country Manager for Peru at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. She continued: “WeTALK’s commitment to improving the English language ability of university students is inspiring. At Cambridge, we develop all our learning and assessment materials to cover the real-life communications skills needed for success. We've provided a very flexible learning and assessment solution to help students achieve a B2 level by graduation.”
Sara Miller, Academic Director - WeTALK, said:
“Cambridge is recognized as a world leader in the English teaching and learning field, and our students appreciate learning from the best. Cambridge’s range of products allowed us to find the materials and exams to build a program that best fit our needs.”
Cambridge will also collaborate alongside WeTALK to deliver an impact study that will look at whether the programme is on track to deliver better English learning outcomes. Research will be carried out in late 2024 with both teachers and students to measure the impact of using the Evolve Digital course on learners’ progress.
