For many young children, singing is a much more fun way to learn English than looking at books. These kids are in luck thanks to a new series of karaoke-style videos that have been launched to help young children preparing for English exams.
Sing and Learn from Cambridge English has been designed to help children learn, remember and use new language. Familiar children’s songs have been re-recorded with new lyrics based on word lists used in Cambridge English: Starters and Movers tests.
‘Children love singing and so we’ve used familiar tunes that will really strike a chord with them,’ explains Kim Conroy-Brown, Marketing Communications Support Manager at Cambridge English. ‘Lots of research points towards the benefits of starting learning English young and making learning fun, and this has been the driving force behind the project. The new videos are an ideal activity for the classroom and at home, and of course teachers and parents can sing along too’.
The Sing and Learn series includes interactive lyrics which guide and encourage children to sing along. There are also activity sheets, with notes for parents and teachers and themed reading and writing activities, which are all based on the vocabulary, grammar and structures used in the song lyrics.
