The Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia has recognised Cambridge English Qualifications, Linguaskill and OET, as minimum entry requirements for international students to private higher education institutions across the country.
Ambitious international students applying to private higher education institutions in Malaysia can now use the internationally recognised qualifications to prove their English language ability. The qualifications are all aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), the international standard of English language ability.
‘Recruiting students with the right levels of English language ability remains a key challenge for universities in Malaysia,’ explains Carmen Le Regional Recognition Manager at Cambridge Assessment English.
‘We’re delighted to get this level of recognition as it shows how seriously Malaysia is taking on this challenge. Our qualifications help students to get the real-life communication skills they need for success. This not only helps them to cope with the English language demands of their courses, but it helps them to settle into their student lives and have a positive experience. The move will also help universities to attract more international students.’
The Cambridge English Qualifications are in-depth exams that make learning English enjoyable, effective and rewarding. Cambridge English Qualifications are recognised worldwide for admission to thousands of higher education institutions worldwide, including HEI’s across the English-speaking world, Europe and Asia.
Linguaskill is a quick and convenient online test to help higher education institutions and employers check the English levels of individuals and groups of candidates. OET is designed to meet the specific English language needs of the healthcare sector.
