One of our official exam centres in Uzbekistan is working with a prestigious medical school to provide a range of Cambridge English Qualifications and courses for teacher training and admissions. Innovate Centre and the Samarkand State Medical Institute (SSMI) are working together to measure the English language ability of teachers, lecturers and students.
The project includes teacher training for teachers delivering lessons in English in medical and other subjects. The collaboration started life in October this year when the school was introduced to the online course the Certificate in EMI Skills (English as a Medium of Instruction). This was aimed at increasing the skills and confidence of teachers and lecturers at the SSMI. The collaboration was recently extended to include supporting teachers and lecturers in working towards a B2 First Qualification from Cambridge Assessment English.
The project has also seen the introduction of Linguaskill into the school. Linguaskill is an online English test that uses the latest cutting-edge technology. It’s powered by Artificial Intelligence to accurately measure English language ability in line with international standards. Linguaskill is being used at SSMI to establish the English language levels of all teaching staff at the medical school. From 2021 Linguaskill will also be used to test English language ability for admissions to the university’s undergraduate programme.
