Thousands of children learning English around the world are sharing their postcard designs as part of an international project.
Over 15,000 postcards which were designed by English language students around the world have been showcased on the Cambridge English Penfriends website. Through the scheme, the children, who are all learning English, can link up and make friends with other learners around the world.
Students from schools registered with the Cambridge English Penfriends scheme send postcards (or e-postcards) in English to partner schools around the world, with each school also invited to upload their best postcards to the Penfriends website. The scheme has proved a great success – in addition to the 15,000 uploads, almost 90,000 postcards have been exchanged between 5,500 schools in 98 countries.
Cambridge English Penfriends is a fun and engaging way for school aged learners to practise reading and writing in English. The postcards, linked to themes and lesson plans provided by Cambridge English, enable students to practise their communication skills, and help schools build international partnerships to further improve English language learning.
