The Thailand Teachers Council (TCT) has recognised the B2 First qualification from Cambridge University Press & Assessment as proof of English language ability for new teachers.
Teachers applying for a licence to teach English in Thailand can now use the Cambridge English Qualification to show they have the necessary English language skills for the job. The TCT is the is the teachers' Council and the Educational Personnel Council, collectively known as the 'Khurusapha', It is a legal entity under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. The TCT is responsible for setting professional standards in the English teaching sector. This includes issuing licences to new teachers who have to prove they have met minimum standards of English language ability.
B2 First can be used for the Thailand Teaching Council’s Tier 1 licence category, which is for professionals who want to teach English. In this category teachers need to show they have a minimum of B2 level English, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard of language ability. People who achieve B2 English are considered to be independent users and have the language skills they need to live and work work independently in an English-speaking country. IELTS, which is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge University Press & Assessment has also been included in the list.

The TCT join a list a growing list of more than 25,000 organisations around the world that recognise Cambridge English qualifications - including universities, employers and governments.
