The recently published 2017 Open Doors® Report on International Educational Exchange, from the Institute of International Education, lists the leading US host institutions for international students – and a number of them recognise C1 Advanced for international admissions.
Institutions accepting C1 Advanced include New York University, which currently tops the 2017 Open Doors® list as the US institution welcoming the most international students (over 17,000). Also among the most popular are Northeastern University (Boston), University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), SUNY (Buffalo), and Brigham Young University (Utah), all of which accept C1 Advanced. A number of highly popular community colleges, offering associate degrees, also accept the exam including Diablo Valley College, Santa Monica College and De Anza College, all in California.
US recognition for C1 Advanced has grown significantly in recent years, with hundreds of universities and colleges accepting the qualification as part of their international admissions criteria.
Successful C1 Advanced candidates have the English language skills required to follow an academic course at university level. The qualification gives students the ability to express themselves with a high degree of fluency, allowing them to participate with confidence in tutorials or seminars.
With monthly test dates available at exam centres around the world, C1 Advanced has become one of the best known and highly regarded advanced English language qualifications for international study, and is also widely accepted by universities and colleges in other popular destination markets for international students as well as by employers. Preparing for C1 Advanced helps learners develop the skills to make the most of studying, working and living in English-speaking countries.
