Linguaskill and UNNC keep students on track during the pandemic

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was approved by the Chinese education authority to initiate the Special Placement Project (SPP) during its 2022 autumn undergraduate recruitment process. 

The programme was launched to allow Chinese students who were unable to study overseas as planned due to the pandemic to study at UNNC. Based on subject quotas and the order of applications received, selected applicants were screened using Linguaskill as part of UNNC’s comprehensive admissions process.

Ensuring successful course placement

As a renowned university, UNNC’s assessment of students’ English language ability is an integral part of the recruitment process, reviewed by the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) for the Special Placement Project. 

CELE decided to use Linguaskill for its undergraduate SPP admissions after the test was successfully adopted for admission onto their PG presessional course. All undergraduate SPP applicants were asked to take Linguaskill locally with remote proctoring as part of the UNNC admissions process.

More than 1,000 applicants across China completed the Linguaskill sessions remotely over several consecutive days in August 2022. Secure and reliable, the online test ran smoothly.
