Language for Teaching will be retiring on 28 February 2023. We are no longer accepting new courses and entries or providing support.*
If you are looking to take an alternative course, we have over 70 online teacher development courses, which can be taken as self-study, as well as English courses for adults.
*Support for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan will be available until 28 February 2023.
The process below describes the main steps when setting up a Language for Teaching course for the first time. After that, new courses can usually start at step 2.
Includes the initial enquiry, information gathering, signing an agreement with Cambridge English and selecting a Local Course Administrator. This step can take up to two months.
In this phase, you select trainers to deliver face-to-face training (if required), recruit course participants, and assess their level of English to place them in the right course. This can take up to one month.
This phase covers the whole course, from the initiation of the course through to the end of training. Courses usually take between six and nine months.
On completion of a course level, participants may take a progress test before moving on to the next course, or take a qualification to demonstrate their achievement.
Download a summary of the whole process, including the various tasks within each phase.
You can arrange a course schedule that meets the needs of your institution and teachers. We've created example schedules for a range of Language for Teaching courses.
