Cambridge English led an international team of experts in the fields of language assessment, questionnaire design, sampling, translation processes and psychometrics to deliver a unique languages survey for the European Community.

Supporting improvements in English teaching

We worked with the Ministry to evaluate the learning, teaching and assessment of English in schools in Malaysia. At the same time, we tested language proficiency from pre-school to pre-university. Reading, listening, writing and use of English were tested online while speaking was tested face to face.

English for refugees and marginalised communities
Jesuit Worldwide Learning

Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) is using the Cambridge English Placement Test (CEPT) and Linguaskill Reading and Listening modules – both from Cambridge English – to place and then assess students from marginalised societies enrolling onto its Global English Language Programme (GEL). The two tests will help ensure students have the best chance of gaining the English skills needed to access JWL’s tertiary study curriculum and, in turn, greater employment opportunities.

Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)

Access to English for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, originally a staff initiative at Cambridge English, is now a major programme of activities designed to improve access to English language learning and support for refugees and asylum seekers worldwide. The initiative includes two MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), developed by Cambridge English with partners Techfugees, FutureLearn and Crisis Classroom, which have so far attracted over 10,000 participants.
